The benefits of mobile solar power supply

As more people have become aware of the impact of climate change and start looking for ways to reduce their reliance on traditional forms of energy, mobile solar power supply has become increasingly popular.

Whether you invest in specially designed solar panels for camping trailers or purchase a stand alone solar trailer system for your Eco Tiny Home.

Today, there are a number of reasons why switching to a mobile solar power supply is advantageous:

    • Access to clean energy, anytime and anywhere — Whether you’re in the burbs or the bush, you will always have power for your laptop and mobile phone.
    • Cost-effective, efficient electricity — A mobile solar power supply can provide big savings on your energy bills. It is also easy to set up and use.
    • Environmentally friendly and sustainable — A mobile solar power supply offers easy access to clean, renewable energy. So if you are conscious of your carbon footprint, there’s an easy way out.

Connecting solar supply systems to tiny houses

As tiny houses become more prevalent, mobile solar power supply has become an important resource. Today, a solar trailer can be used to power all of your tiny home requirements – from appliances, lights, fridges and TV to charging your laptop or phone.

Most importantly, a mobile solar power supply is completely eco-friendly which can also help you save on your electricity bill.

What to consider prior to installing solar

If you are looking to introduce solar power to one of our ready-made tiny homes, there are some things to consider.

  1. How much power you will need to generate (armed with this information, you can then decide on the right size and type of solar panel to meet your needs – we can help you with this).
  2. Will you want to mount the panels or invest in a solar trailer?

Of course, there may be many other questions that we have not answered here – please feel free to send us an email and reach out for answers to your questions, contact us. We can’t wait to help you and set you up with a simpler and cleaner lifestyle.

FAQs

How is solar more cost-efficient?

As an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional forms of energy, solar power is becoming increasingly more popular.

Many are not aware that the benefits of solar power are not restricted to residential dwellings and homes.

Today, solar trailers and mobile solar power supplies are commonly found as part of a camping rig.

They are also amazing for tiny homes in various locations.

These scenarios make solar power a great option for anyone looking to save on their power bills.

As well as being more cost-efficient than ever before and playing an important role in reducing electricity costs, you can save money by taking advantage of government tax incentives available for installing a solar energy source.

Will solar panels still work in the rain?

Our Solar panels are designed to work in all weather conditions, including rain. However, if your solar panel is covered in dirt or debris, it may not work as efficiently. Regularly cleaning of your solar panels is therefore essential to ensure the panels operate efficiently.

Whilst our solar panels are often fixed to a freestanding trailer or a tiny home, there may also be occasions where the environment or location is not ideal and weather conditions are less than perfect. In such situations, a solar trailer can be the answer.

This specialist piece of equipment comes equipped with weather-resistant panels and can be easily moved to different locations. The important thing to remember when using a solar trailer (or in fact any form of mobile solar power supply), is that the unit be properly vented. This can help to ensure that condensation (which could damage the unit) is minimised.

How often do I have to change the batteries?

Just like any other electrical device, solar panels require regular maintenance to keep them running smoothly – this includes changing the batteries on your solar trailer. Solar batteries are typically lead-acid or lithium-ion, and both types need to be replaced every few years to maintain optimal performance and maximum output.

For lead-acid batteries should this should occur every 3 to 5 years.

Conversely, lithium-ion batteries have a life of up to 10 years.

Please note that, solar panels contain high-voltage electrical components that can be dangerous if not handled correctly. This means that a qualified technician should always be consulted when replacing a solar battery… it is not something that one should undertake on their own.

What appliances can I run?

You can run any appliance that is fitted to your tiny home. This includes water pumps, air-conditioning, lighting, microwave, rangehood, phone charger and kettle.

What is the battery life?

The battery has 8KW of power. To give you an idea when we tested the duration of the battery over a 24-hour period, we hooked up two tiny homes, and had every appliance running simultaneously (including air-con, lights, rangehood and intermittently powered up the kettle and microwave).

What happens if there isn’t sufficient sun?

No need to worry! That’s why we built the Get Off The Grid solar trailer with back up generator. The generator will kick in as soon as the solar pack stops providing you power.

How long does it take the solar pack to re-charge?

Between 2.5 –  3 hours in full sun.

What happens if there is no sun for a lengthy period of time?

You will consume all the stored energy from the battery until the battery reaches 10%. At this point, the generator will kick in automatically. It will also charge your battery in the absence of ongoing sunlight and supply you with power up to 6.75KW (which is enormous).

What is the warranty?

You will be provided with a 2 Year Manufacturers Warranty.

Can I power anything else other than my Tiny Home?

While this Solar Trailer has been engineered to power Tiny Homes, we have catered to other industries and their individual needs – such as; farming and government.

How far can the trailer be away from my Tiny Home?

Your Solar Trailer can be located up to 30m away from your Tiny Home.

Is the Solar Trailer noisy?

The solar panels and trailer itself, is not noisy. The only time you will hear a humming noise is when the generator is on.

Is it easy to set-up my Solar Trailer?

It is very easy to set up our Solar Trailer. It will take roughly 10 minutes once you have decided on the best location.

Can I have the Solar Panels without the trailer?

Yes, we have fixed set-ups that can address your needs, excluding installation.
